5 Overlooked Opportunities for Easy Holiday Decorations
When it comes to putting up our holiday decorations, most of us go with the usual Christmas tree or two, wreath on the door, and maybe a nativity scene. However, if you really want to give your home a little extra shine this Christmas, don’t overlook any opportunity to add to your indoor Christmas decorations. Here are five, easy ways to add more luster to your Christmas home decor.
- Indoor Plants: Whether they are real or artificial, the plants around your home are a great place to throw in some extra holiday decorations. You can tie festively-colored ribbons around the pots or planters, and even fashion a decorative bow if you know how. For larger, artificial plants, consider stringing a small strand of lights around them to brighten up any room.
- Doorways: This is the first impression someone has of your home and there are plenty of ways to include indoor Christmas decorations around your doorway. Whether it’s a Merry Christmas doormat, bells on the doorknob, or paper snowflakes taped on the window, make sure everyone enters and leaves your home with a sense of Christmas cheer.
- Scent: Nothing inspires the feeling of the holidays like the smell of a pie or an evergreen tree. Potpourri and scented candles are great ways to add a seasonal scent to any room. If you want a visual appeal as well, try tying a few cinnamon sticks together with a ribbon and place them in bowls around your home. No Christmas home décor is complete without a Christmassy treat for the nose.
- Centerpieces: These little displays add so much to your holiday decorations as they usually become the focal point of a room. You can make your own Christmas centerpieces by cleaning out an empty wine bottle and lining it with red or gold foil. Next add a few sprigs of holly and berries. This creates a simple, but festive look that will drastically improve your indoor Christmas decorations.
- Bathrooms: This is arguably the most overlooked area of the house when it comes to holiday decorations. Christmas themed soap dishes and hand towels can be found for very reasonable prices. In the kid’s bathrooms, let them cut out paper snowflakes to tape on the mirror. Maybe even pick up some of those washable markers made for glass and let them draw some holiday shapes.
